AtariBoys First Post
GeekLimit News April 18th, 2006I thought i’d just take the chance to say a little bit about what I’m aiming for with my posts on The ‘Limit.
I’m a Windows user, and a PC Gamer at heart. I’ve built up my own computer and upgraded/improved it over the past 4 years, I do a bit overclocking and benchmarking every so often. I’m also a keen software developer, mainly in C# but i also know a fair bit of C/C++ too, as well as playing with web programming in ASP .Net and XHTML/CSS.
I feel that i still have so much to learn in the world of computers, and in a sense, so much to catch up on as well. I missed out on a lot of older technologies and big things in the geek community before i got heavily into computing and everyday i learn something more.
I’m pretty handy when it comes to everything windows, so I figure I’ll stick to that. Tips and tricks on getting your system running faster and better, guides to installing and using some of the more complex software and hardware available to the Hardcore geek and news and reviews of hot new software too, especially free stuff, infact here is a list of some of my favourite free bits of software:
uTorrent – If your on windows and want a BitTorrent client there is no better choice than, small, fast and has torrent encryption too.
Firefox – If you arn’t using Firefox… Are you from the past? It really is the only browser you need. Very quick, secure and extendable.
Songbird – This lil’ media player is going to be the next big thing.. once it’s finished! Basically open source iTunes, once this bird flys its going to change the way you listen to music.
TUGZip – Everyone needs a way of opening and creating archives, but why pay for WinZIP or WINRAR when you can get an even better program for free!?!
Paint.Net – Paint .Net fits nicely in between MS Paint and Photoshop, lots of useful photo editing bits with non of the painful price of Adobes No.1 Photo App.
VLC – Plays any video file without ever asking for a codec, speaks for itself really.
I’m also into PC gaming in a big way, i generally play FPS and racing games although if challenged I’ll happily play C&C into the tiny hours.
A day doesn’t go by that i dont play Day of Defeat: Source, so if something new comes along from valve you’ll hear about it from me!
I’m a keen digital photographer as well, more on that on my personal blog and flickr.
My GeekLimit Profile is here, and you can find loads more about my PC on my personal blog.

*sigh* A window’s user at heart… Oh well , I suppose Windows has a few benefits, mainly for gaming. You will never hear me say “Windows” and “Benefits” again in the same sentence.
Moving on, Firefox is definately the only browser to use, altho I have been inpressed with how stable Bon Echo is (The Firefox 2.0 Alpha version).
VLC is very good on Windows, but not up to standards really on Mac.
Never even heard of TUGZip, but I would never be discouraged by having to pay for software, usually because there is a crack or serial to be found somewhere.
I shall have to indeed challenge you on C&C, although I get a bit jumpy due to the heavy coffee drinking that goes on while playing, and you would probably win…

Hey, maybe you (CrazyBarbour) and I could team up against Atariboy
I like playing C&C (except for General Zero Hour actually) a lot, but I kind of suck at it… I’m a bit better at Emperor: Battle for Dune though

I am looking for a professional sports betting service and can’t make up my mind. There are so many services to choose from. I am kind of leaning towards this guy after finding his video on sports picks. He claims a 97% success rate which I find hard to believe, I would be happy with a 60% success rate. Anyway, it’s backed by a clickbank guarantee. I have bought products through clickbank before and I can trust them. I was just wondering what other people thought about these kinds of products?

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these professional sports ? I am considering signing up for this sports handicapping service. It looks pretty promising and its backed by a clickback guarantee which means your going to get your money back if you don’t like the system or it simply doesn’t work. Has anyone tried a system like this?

You post definitely was one of the best points of my Saturday. I had been on Digg trying to find something totally not related when your title grabbed my interest. I sure am thankful I took the time to read your article! Feel free view my sport articles if you get some free time!

We appreciate you another new article. Where else could anyone get that type of information in this perfect tool for writing? I get a presentation in the future, and I will be about the hunt for such information.
