Tech Podcasts
Posted by AtariBoy | Filed under Geeky, Web

I’ve only recently got into podcasts, they seemed a little bit too Web2.0 for me and a lot of people i know. Just a buzz word without any real substance so i just avoided them.
I downloaded my first podcast last week, from the MikeTechShow and listened to while walking into town. I was suprised to find that it was actually pretty interesting stuff so i went in search of more Tech Podcasts.
If you haven’t listened to a podcast before it is simply a talk radio show compressed into an MP3, usually between 30 mins and an hour long, the ones listed below have some really intelligent and interesting conversation and disucssion of current events, news and issues in the Tech world.
I love how they don’t tend to dumb down the detail either.
You can subscribe to them via RSS feed or in podcasting programs like iTunes and Songbird so you get the new show downloaded as soon as its released.

TWiT – This Week in Tech is the daddy of tech podcasts, definatly my fav. They get some big name stars on there sometimes as well. There are a number of other podcasts at twit.tv as well including This Week in Media and FLOSS.
MikeTechShow – My first podcast came from Mike and his great show, lots of complex stuff and advise. Generally based on fixing stuff.
All Tech Radio - A radio show thats also a podcast, very much like TWiT but a different take on things, very enjoyable.
Geek News Central – This one is very geeky and more of a personal geek blog in audio form, still good tho.
The Weekly Geek – Mainly gaming news although they touch on other geeky news as well.
Caffination – Being a caffine addict i couldn’t pass this one up. Tech, Geek and Caffine.
Techpodcasts.com – A collection of other Tech podcasts and feeds for many podcasts.
Rocketboom – This ones a popular Video podcast, a short, sharp daily hit of news and really random stuff.
Revision3 – More video podcasts, and loads of good ones here including diggnation and geekdrome.

Hit me up with any I’ve missed, I’m always up for hearing new stuff.
The only thing that i dont care for in podcasts (and this is personal preference only) is too much music being played in the podcast, but it doenst put me off, I tend to just skip it.

Oh man! I can’t believe you left IT Conversations off of there! They give podcasts to conventions I could never afford to go to. Anyway, I’d say that is a must-have podcast.
